ZIMBABWE: A LAND OF DRAMATIC LANDSCAPES, DIVERSE WILDLIFE AND EXTREME ADVENTURES
A great choice for true safari lovers, Zimbabwe is renowned for its dramatic landscapes and diverse wildlife, the majority of which can be found in national parks, reserves and dedicated safari areas. Situated between two of Africa’s great rivers, it is ideal for water-based extreme adventures and presents phenomenal photo opportunities!
Take a plunge at one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of the World”
Labelled one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World by CNN, the famed Victoria Falls on the grand Zambezi River make a thundering 108 metre drop into the spectacular Batoka Gorge. As such, it has become very popular for extreme adventures such as bungee jumping and white-water rafting. Those who don’t have a penchant for the extreme can choose from a selection of more leisurely ways to experience these natural wonders.
Seize the chance to take a walk on the wild side
With a myriad of conservation areas and game reserves, Zimbabwe has become a firm favourite amongst true safari lovers. Here is our pick of the must-visit national parks:
- Matusadona: Described as “a place of remarkable beauty,” the Matusadona National Park is located at the edge of the breathtaking Lake Kariba.
- Mana Pools: Remote and vast, the Mana Pools National Park includes the south bank and islands of the Zambezi River. It is best known for its exceptional wildlife visibility beside the river and in the flood plains. The area is fantastic for walking and also well known for its photographic opportunities.
- Hwange: The Hwange National Park, formerly known as “Wankie Game Reserve,” is the largest game reserve Zimbabwe. The park has an exceptionally large population of elephants, lions and African wild dogs, as well as a wealth of other wild animal species. These animals can be observed quite closely, from concealed lookouts close to the watering holes or whilst on a game drive.
A trip to Zimbabwe can also easily be combined to include any of the other neighbouring African countries. Feel free to talk to us to help you design your dream African safari.
